Fun Maths

Our Fun Maths reinforces basic addition and subtraction in a fun way.

How to Play:

  1. Roll a number (ie 6),
  2. Roll the + or - dice (ie +)
  3. Roll another number (ie 3)
  4. Work out the sum: 6+3. You then move to that number on the board (9). If its a minus then the greater number always goes to the front of the sum.

If you land on a block with a pineapple, you get to make up a fun rule (ie for the next turn everyone must talk in a high voice or clap your hands 3 times before you say the answer).

What ELSE can you do with this board:

  • Make it a bit more challenging by asking the child to work out the sum and then move to the number GREATER THAN or LESS THAN that answer.
  • Make the child cover all the numbers on the board that are the same as the answer they have just worked out.
  • Ask the child to build lego blocks on top of the numbers (ie 3 lego blocks on top of each other on the no 3 block) will give an added visual of 3D shapes. Seeing the different sizes of their various lego towers will also give them an idea of how BIG or small the numbers are.
  • Ask one child to work out the sum and then others have to race to collect that number of “counters” from a pile on the floor. First one back with the correct number of counters is the winner!

Shapes and Colours Game

A super fun way to learn about shapes and colours.

How to Play:
Either roll the shape dice or roll the colour dice and move to that shape or colour on the board. If you land on a block with a pineapple you can make up a fun rule!

What ELSE can you do with this board:

  • To make it a little more difficult – throw both the colour and shape dice together and ask the child to find the “blue circle” or the “red square”.
  • Make the child cover all the shapes that are yellow or blue.
  • Ask the child to show you all the shapes with 4 sides or find the shape with no corners.
